Today's adventure
Late this morning, Son and I decided we would like to go kayaking. We haven't been in so long, and it was overcast, so we wouldn't bake in the sun.
We only live a short distance from a great launch on Canandaigua Lake, so we were off and running in just a few minutes. We had thought about going across the lake and heading north, but when Son suggested exploring the river at the lake's end, I thought that would be a splendid idea!
We passed by the tree in which the Eagle(s) often sit, but none were there. We worked our way out on the lake and turned onto the river. The south end of the lake is seriously overrun by seaweed this year, as well as lily pads and algae.
Son and I noticed turtles everywhere! Every piece of floating driftwood seemed to have a turtle perched on it, enjoying the streaks of sunshine. I had packed my Nikon D-80, along with its inexpensive 70-300mm lens. Although the photo isn't as detailed as it could be, it is hard to convince a kayak to stop and sit still upon the water!
As we came to the end of our little explore, we neared another public boat launch off the river. There, the green algae was thick as porridge, and it smelled terrible! Although I enjoyed the scenery very much, I think I will reserve a return trip for when the "greenery" has disappeared!
