Charity Lunch
We went to a lunch at the Manor to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. It's always a good social occasion as well, a long leisurely lunch and wine. The rain kept off until we came home. The speech was made by a scientist from Manchester working on the "magic Bullet" or targeted cancer treatments. The Christie Hopstital in Manchester is the Centre of Excellence for this approach in the Uk. Some of us used to work for AstraZeneca on cancer drugs so it's nice to know how things are progressing. They raised £1100 just on the raffle which was good. No prizes on our table though, but a good time was had by all.
