Introducing 'my potentially trendy allotment'
Last year I became a proud owner of good size of land; at the time it was covered in deep rooted weeds, it was a challenge, but it didn't faze me..
I was determined to transform it into my dream vegetable plot with a hint of trendiness (I also adore fashion, my gardening gloves had to be pink! ;)
I refused the idea of using a Rotavator. I got my hands dirty and double digged the majority of the plot, with help from my two strong and experienced aunties and the other half (I should add) we destroyed the 6 ft of weeds!
The next stage was applying the mulching; my own recipe of organic waste, a layer of cardboard, manure and heavy plastic sheets to help the compost work it's magic!
After 6 months of waiting, the soil was deliciously rich and desperate for seedlings.
I started with a small section in the top corner for berry bushes and the other sections would begin there turn in crop rotation..
I am still only at the beginning of developing my perfect plot.. I'm proud and excited to start this journey "of growing me own grub!"
