Eating in the Rain
I never like to throw food out on the ground for the birds because my cat is such a champion hunter. And I don't own a bird table. But I do like to help them out through the lean winter months, so I've taken to cutting apples into eighths and spearing them on the branches of this flowering cherry.
It has rained much of today, with glowering grey sky but the birds are still about, needing to fuel themselves to keep warm. A pair of waxeyes have been dashing in for a bit of a feed and then dashing away again. I like this one with the raindrops sparkling on his back.
In large you'll see the texture that he's created in the apple with his wee pecks. And the 'Ambrosia' sticker on the apple which I forgot to remove when I cut it up.
