Clocking in

Today I went to my friends' soft launch opening of his new street wear shop. It was, as expected, very cool. I was given the 'grand tour' of the whole building which was huge, and came across the clocking-in cards.

The building was previously a print company which had gone under. The cards in there were left from the day the employees all found out they'd been made redundant.

It's funny how instead of being used as a functional way of monitoring work patterns, the cards were now being used as a talking point, a souvenir of the buildings' past life and a reminder of a failed business. The cards themselves hadn't changed physically, but now, in the changed environment they had a totally new meaning.
