Summertime in Moscow part II

In summer, there are rolling hot-water cutoffs.

And the city government takes it on itself to resurface just about the whole of Moscow before the ice sets in.

Incidentally, when the works start, don't expect elaborate security measures to prevent you walking/driving into something - we witnessed several cars swerve at the last minute to avoid a single little fence placed over an open manhole on a fast road; and I had the dubious pleasure of stepping in unadvertised ankle-deep setting concrete on a pavement.
