35W Bridge Memorial

This is a memorial opposite Gold Medal Park for the 13 people who lost their lives (represented by the 13 blue glowing columns) and 145 people injured in Minneapolis when, four summers ago on Aug. 1st 2007, the Interstate 35W freeway bridge crossing the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, all eight lanes of it, collapsed during rush hour plunging between 60 and 115 feet into the river.

The thirteen columns glowing blue each show the names of the 13 dead and some biographical information; the granite wall behind with water sluicing down it has the names of the 181 people who were on the bridge when it fell, and survived.
