C. W. Stoneking

I knew young Andy Mill was going to be a support act for C. W. Stoneking tonight at the Electric Circus as part of the EdgeFestival.
I was told this venue was a sleazy, den of a place where women are paid to be whisked off into rooms by men who are willing to pay for this. My curiosity knew no bounds and I was trying hard with a very feeble imagination to picture the surroundings, of course, safely in the company of Donald and Luke and Andy and all his chums, decent folks.

I was being 'had on', this was no such place at all.

I had no time to be annoyed as young Andy jumped onto the stage set and into his first number. He was on top performance.
Not much time was lost between his act ending and the main band starting.

Well, that C. W. Stoneking who stood in front of us, strummed a little 'tuning-up' number and made the most incredible, very quiet (is that musical term 'p') sound that made me stop in my tracks. From then on the sounds that filled that venue (not including the long, long applauses that followed each song) were breath-takingly wonderful and my whole being was shaken to the edge to the ultimate happiness.

The standing ovation was probably heard all the way to the Railway Station Lines and reverberating right down the tracks to Kings Cross Station.
