Like an itch you can't scratch...

At Brighton station, platform 5/6, there is this pole supporting two buttons, one red, one black. No sign, no instructions, no warning about what happens if you push either of them.

I need to know! Dare I push one? Should I choose the Red Button or the Black Button?

They're like an itch I can't scratch, or can I? One day....
