Sunflower Gold Medalist

This is Frank with his 'pride & joy'.

He used seeds from last year's tallest Sunflower to grow these beauties. He's really proud of the results.

Some of the older local residents where I live have an annual 'Who can grow the tallest Sunflower?' competition. Frank is in pole position "at the moment' (as he keeps reminding me!)

With London 2012 and the Olympics on the horizon ... I was thinking about writing to the IOC and asking if they would introduce 'Growing Sunflowers' as an Olympic event. Frank would be a Gold Medal certainty! Just imagine the top of that podium with Frank and his Sunflower and the Gold Medal and the National Anthem playing and the Union Jack flying (I'm getting a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat as I write!)
