Sam and Steve
Our friend Steve has popped in to stay for the night on his way up north. Always lovely to see him, though the kids are disappointed he has come without the rest of the family.
Steve and Sam were at uni together, flatmates for the majority of the time. I joined them for the final year when I went to run a cafe in Edinburgh after graduating. We lived in a gorgeous but delapidated Edinburgh terrace house, where your clothes went mouldy but the parties were bloody brilliant.
Here are some of the things we love about Steve:
- He is a beautiful networker - put him in a room full of strangers and he'll have them all in happy conversation within minutes
- He has an incredibly useful loud voice
- He never quite made it as a stand up comedian but is still very very funny
- He earns a zillion pounds a minute (ish) but is still entirely normal
- He has a comical tendency to overuse the word "The"
- He is a wonderful husband, father and friend.
Just before I vomit into the keyboard I'd better mention, for my own reference, in note form, three less attractive aspects of steve:
- Nutella
- The Buffer Phone
- The sound of a vigorous teaspoon.
