Anyone for snooker?
Today I went diving with my ex colleague S, we went to Gildenburgh nr Peterborough.
First time I have ever been there.
Its been a great day. We both had a purpose for diving, S hadn't been in the water for a while and I was wanting to finally christen my new drysuit.
It was a great place to achieve both.
I didn't take my camera down on the first dive as I just wanted to orientate with the new drysuit. Everything went to plan and I am chuffed to bits. Even my weighting was spot on! It really is a great suit and is worth every penny, especially as I spent far more than I was going to.
We just had a good fin around the bus and went in and out of it looking at the perch around. We only did a 33 minute dive and had a maximum depth of 19 mtrs but we had a great dive and both came off very happy. S is my kind of buddy and that made for a great dive for us both, we were both very clear of what we wanted out of the dive and how close to stick to each other, also apart from another group of 3 divers who we didn't see at all, we pretty much had the site to ourselves.
The second dive we around the bus and over to the plane, the visibility was better by the bus. We also took my camera down, S and I are both interested in photography on and off the water, S underwater has a film outfit and this was his first time with a digital which led to a good discussion over a coffee. We are both DSLR uses on land and were discussing using them under water. I think I have said it here before that my DSLR was an inheritance from my Grandma and my Dad and subsequently I would be very, very nervous about taking it underwater in a housing. I envy anyone that does and would love to and I know I can save up for the housing, but if the housing was to flood... I would be devastated. Maybe at some point I will save up for another DSLR and housing and use that. For now though I think I will stick with the Fuji and invest in a strobe to enhance the photos, particularly in the blue stuff!
This is me in my new drysuit, playing a spot of underwater snooker!
Apart from the rain which didn't bother us underwater we had a great day and my drysuit was awesome!
