Home based Care for HIV/Aids
When we decided to build a birthing Centre in Lusangazi, we had no idea how many needs the building would fulfill.
Today was the turn of the HIV/ Aids sufferers in the local area. Every time we are here, Mary meets the group, has the chats, checks that they're taking their ARV's and keeping up with Clinic appointments.
Then comes advice on general health, eating a balanced diet and going to our farm, close by, to get seeds and Citrus seedlings.
overall it's an amazing community project/programme.
The picture shows the woman at the centre of it all, Lillian, the local birth attendant, and manager of the health post. She is an amazing woman, loves children as you can see her here with Martin, a neighbour's child.
Last night she attended the birth of a premature little girl to a young mother with HIV. Both mother and baby are doing fine in the Central Hospital, havind firstly had the loving, caring, undivided attention of Lillian.
Things never get boring here!!! Annoying and frustrating certainly, but never boring!!
Maureen and Noreen attended as well. Maureen sold the benefits of beetroot and Noreen hung pictures with small nails and a brick off the road to drive them, what a woman? Hurrah for the girl guides!!
