Pause means a rest, break, or temporary stop. It is often displayed as a symbol which resembles the roman numeral for 2.

The shape we use to represent the number 2 has its origins firmly set with the Brahmin Indians, who wrote it as two horizontal lines (It is still written that way today in China and Japan). Today, however, we are more likely to use the number 2 digitally as a form of 'texting shorthand' on mobile phones.

'Number 2' was also a main character in the hit 70's TV show 'The Prisoner', which was filmed in the village of Portmeirion in North Wales.

These days, however, a 'number 2' has become a discreet term used when you need to go to the toilet to do 'the other'. Oh how Patrick McGoohan would be turning in his grave if he knew.

Incidentally, I read recently that iTunes has now sold more than 2 billion songs, accounting for more than 80% of worldwide online digital music sales. Nothing 2 amazing in that, sure, but it takes me neatly back 2 my blippic for 2day, hey.
