Could not believe the size...

...of this beatle, it was roughly 3.5cms long! Son of mine was in full bug mode on our walk this evening when he spotted this! He was in his element, reminded me of days when every few minutes he was rushing in to show me his latest & greatest discoveries!

The photo does not really do it justice, the colour, the patterns on its back & the bits sticking out...guess this is one lucky bug that my son spotted him & didn't cycle over it accidently!
