Stargazer Lily

I have been waiting for these to burst into bloom for a couple of weeks now. I always forget they are later than your normal lilies, they are very fragrant and about 3 foot or so high with their heads pointing to the sky. Last night they were still firmly shut up in their buds, stubbornly refusing to bloom. Tonight when I looked out through the dismal gloom that was today, I noticed that several of their heads were open wide.

So I braved the drizzle to take some pictures. I wish I hadn't bothered as they are really tricky to shoot and get the colour just right. Hence the jiggery pokery with this shot :)

Working from home tomorrow, which is always to be preferred and the weather outlook is somewhat more pleasant (I would say it could hardly get worse but that would just be tempting fate) :)
