On The Pull !
Someone got me thinking about the kind of stuff I enjoy doing in my spare time...which then got me thinking about the stuff I used to enjoy doing and kind of stopped because of relationship commitments at the time. Being single again made me realise that perhaps I should start to think about me again ! I'm just not sure the world is ready for me back in my lycra all in one !
So, I pulled out my rowing blade......Yes, I own a full size rowing blade. It has my name and the rest of the crew from our old rowing club painted on it......I've taken part in the Cambridge bumps quite a few times, a bump every night (catching the boat ahead) allows you the privilege of owning a full size painted blade. I've earned a couple of these along the way but thought I'd stick to just the one ! I couldn't take a photo of the blade in the end......its too bloody big !
So I found an old rowing photo instead, for those in the know I'm sitting at 3 (navy blue cap)
(Thought I'd explain the rules of the Bumps for anyone who gives a toss. It takes place over 4 evenings. All the boats in your division line up along the river with an equal space between them. When the start gun goes off everyone starts rowing.....this is where a swift kill is important.....you have to catch the boat ahead and overtake slightly or touch, this is known as a bump. The boat that bumped and the bumped boat both pull over. The boat that was trying to catch the boat that just bumped then has to do double the work to try and catch the boat beyond the bumped boat. Those at the head of the line have to do a row over....row the full length of the bumps course without any other boats catching them......there, makes perfect sense !)
