Girl at the Beach
We went to Carkeek Park this morning and it was a bit of a chilly day at the beach. But, the tide was out and there was some pretty good tide pooling. We saw a large starfish (that later disappeared mysteriously), sea cucumbers, hermit crabs, regular crabs (alive and kicking!), and some kind of crane. We got to watch two trains pass by and we stood on the bridge over the tracks.
Later, we went to Green Lake to go swimming and sit in the park in the sun. I found the lake refreshing but some thought it was "painfully freezing". This is the first time I've been in the lake this summer (and the first time ever without a wetsuit) and I did really love it.
I was tired afterwards so we picked up take out from Smokin' Peet's for dinner. In the evening as the light fell, we walked around the neighborhood and did a bit of "house shopping". A lovely chill quiet somewhat-warm summer day.
A year ago today, this day (and this weekend) would have been totally unthinkable so it's lovely to see progress made in such a visible and palpable way.
