a rising sun...

...to begin my day - and the new month

couldn't sleep - really - so thought i'd give another effort at catching the sunrise... the sky was clearing quickly so i was believing i'd missed it by the time i got to the spot i was thinking of and i wasn't seeing any spectacular streaks of color. oh well... another day...

i turned, hearing a bird and got a few shots off... then turned back to see a fantastic golden orb...

you know what it reminded me of? how i used to draw the sun when i was a little girl... in very precise, strips of color on the paper with a blue background - that's what i was seeing.

i imagined there was no way i could get my camera to pick up exactly what i was observing... how it looked like there were really individual and distinct stripes of color to the sunrise, and how the sky had this very cool blue to it - but i was gonna try. once again, i found myself acting like a crazy person snapping in rapid succession to ensure i "got" it... muttering to myself the whole time... and pausing only when i was done to be amazed yet again at the wonder of nature... the beauty that god has allowed me to observe because i have eyes to see and the ability to be out and about early in the morning...
