Dedicated ...

... dog walkers.

I had to stop the car and grab a quick shot of this couple on Sandymount strand, determined to exercise their dogs, incoming tide or not. (It looks better bigger.)

Then it was on to Carl's place to watch the Hungarian Grand Prix. A good race, boring in spots but made up for by some moments of excitement (including Nick Heidfeld's car dramatically going on fire). The story of the day, though, was Red Bull's continuing problems and a wonderful win for Jenson Button, celebrating his 200th GP in perfect fashion.

We went on to inspect the upgraded works where the railway tracks have been covered over near the Pavilion in Dún Laoghaire. Even allowing for its (still) not being finished, it's all a bit dull, really, and very rigidly laid out. A wasted opportunity to create what could have been a fine civic amenity, we thought.

We had a meal in the Martello restaurant (a while since we've been there). Not bad, though far from outstanding. It's still a really pleasant place though, and we had a long chat with the boss when we finished our meal, sitting outside watching the rain, after which we had a few drinks in the wonderful Fitzgerald's pub in Sandycove. We'd almost made it back to Carl's place when we bumped into three of our friends who happily came in for a chat a nightcap.
