Morteratsch Glacier

Today started with another challenge for me. I'm not all that comfortable with exposure to heights. I don't mind heights at all (I'm happy flying) but exposure to height can make me go a bit over anxious. So a chair lift was quite an exciting thing for me. A chair lift with a sharp right turn even more exciting. And when it stopped (with the attendant swinging of the seat), it got even more exciting. Still, it was uneventful compared to the woman in front who managed to drop her camera. I heard a strangled little squeal and then saw a camera falling. When it hit the ground, it didn't make a reassuring "it's ok, I'm fine" noise. "Crack" was closer.

Still it is an extremely pretty way to travel and I enjoyed it a lot despite what my hands clenched round the safety bar might indicate.

We had a really nice walk for a good few hours before we ended up at the Chna. Paradis. This is a little restaurant with some beautiful views. Today's Blip is of Sunday's glacier from there. I like this a lot.

And for the record, we got the chair lift down again. That was an even bigger challenge - when the chair swung off the platform and swung out over nothing, I wasn't happy but I wasn't panicked either. By the end, I was thinking about trying to get a photograph from the chair. Wish I had.
