1st of August

In 1291 on the first of August three (what are now the Cantons Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden) swore allegiance to each other and therefore founded what is now Switzerland. More and more cantons joined them, the very last was the canton of Jura.

This bread was eaten this morning to celebrate, the day will end with bonfires on many of the mountains and lots of fireworks. The day will be warm and the paddling pool is filling up nicely, now it has to heat up a bit.
