Don McAra's work

I will stick with the theme of things hanging on the walls on my home. This small watercolour is by NZ artist Don McAra.

I am lucky to own this as I am sure I could not afford to buy a piece of his work now. You can see this one is dated 1988.

Back in those days I was spending a lot of my spare time knitting very colourful and textured jerseys for babies and toddlers. I had the odd time on a knitters co-op stall at the Arts Centre (for those who remember this was before it was in its current location - it was further into the buildings part). A painting co-op had the stall next to mine and Don was there one day at the same time as me. We chatted a bit over the course of the day and he suggested he swap me a painting for a jersey. I think I got the best part of that bargain and have enjoyed the painting ever since.
