Lost Between Worlds

Family Altar

This is the beginnings of our family altar. Normally, an altar is on a table, but we are going a slightly different route.

Because we have a little one on the way, we are doing things slightly unconventionally. We mounted the breakable things on a decorative shelf on the wall. Above it is mounted our guardian dragon, and, from left to right, the shelf holds the following sentimental and sacred items:

A dried rose my husband gave me.
My wedding ring box.
His toasting flute from our wedding.
The picture of us the day before Valentine's Day, at the circus, wrapped in ribbon used to decorate the reception at our wedding.
A Buddha from a friend who passed away. This particular laughing Buddha is for wealth and prosperity...
My toasting flute from the ceremony.
His ring box.
An oil incense burner with(currently) uplifting and cleansing bergamot essential oil incense.

We are going to search for a suitable table to place underneath this, where we will have a few candles, our wedding license and other trinkets of "us," of our family and of our faiths.
