Skutsjesilen

Today the yearly regatta "Skutsjesilen" started as usual in the town Grou. We went there because we were invited by our bank to see this regatta from a ship they chartered. We never seen this race with tall ships ever before being on the water ourselves, It was very nice but rather cold on the upper deck.
This regatta continues for the next two weeks, with every day a race in a different town on an different water.
This regatta started in 1945. It is being sailed with very tall ships which were used in the earlier days for transporting goods over water with only the shipper and his wife on board. Now there is a crew of at least 10 people.
On the picture you can see the ships in the so called winward leg, which makes it impossible to see who is in front
