Tomb of an Emperor

This morning my lovely girlfriend had gotten up to buy breakfast at the bakery (boulangerie) next door. We enjoyed our croissants and cut the baguette and put some cheese on it for the lunch later today.

First thing today we visited the cimetière of Père Lachaise again. This time to walk around a bit longer. And so we did, we admired some graves, disliked others and found a couple of famous graves: Chopin and Jim Morisson (from The Doors).

After this visit we took the metro to the statue of liberty's little sister near the Seine. It was great to see this statue that also appeared in a National Treasure movie. From there we walked along the Seine's northern quay to the Jardins du Trocadero. Looking at the fountains there we had our lunch.

Later we took some pictures of my girl and I in front of the Eiffel tower (that is nicely visible from the Palais de Chaillot). After our walk underneath the Eiffel Tower we walked on to Hôtel des Invalides. On our way there we bought some more drinks.

We first visited the big tomb that Napoleon had built for himself, underneath the golden dome we saw the gigantic resting place of this small emperor. We also visited the graves of his son and grandson. Afterwards we walked on to another part of the complex: Musée de l'Armée. There we admired many ancient and multi-cultural pieces of weaponry; really beautiful.

We went back to the hotel before having our dinner at a bistro on the Boulevard de Ménilmontant. Dinner was great, we had 2 different variants of the choice menu so we could try both dishes from each other. While we were having dinner, on the square in front of the building a group of students with brass instruments started playing modern jazz. It was really enjoyable and after our dinner we also joined the gathered crowd and danced a bit before ending our day in the hotel with a glass of wine.
