Freedom to...
... run in the woods, feel the wind in your hair and have the adventure you want to have.
The final image is over on my Kinda Horrigans journal.
The editing that went into that image was as follows...
Firstly, it was a RAW file. Although these are often a bit of mystery and create huge files which eat away at the space on your computer, they're worth it for the control you have over things like white balance, exposure, noise reduction and a whole host of other loveliness. The decisions your camera would make for you in creating a JPEG, you get to take yourself when you look at your images later. So, this RAW file was of an image which was over-exposed, so I adjusted the exposure and increased the clarity so that it was more in line with what I was after.
Then, because her hair and the colour of the ground didn't have enough contrast, plus I liked the light and shade with the horizontals of the shadows echoed in her skirt, I decided to make it a black and white shot. I converted it using Silver Efex Pro using the Push Process preset and then adjusting the toning, chosing a light coffee coloured tone. Then, applied this and used a teensy bit of dodging and burning to bring out the highlights in her hair and darken the background around her head and body ever so slightly.
And that was that!
