Bandstand and Bridge

Aren't days off fab !!!!

An early morning spin class allowed for a calorific lunch out. Nearby to where we ate is todays blip (please note - not a flower!)....

The bandstand in Magdalen Green Park was built in 1890 and, in the good old days hosted Sunday afternoon concerts.

Peeking through the bandstand to the rear is the Tay (Rail) Bridge. This is the second rail bridge which opened in 1887; rebuilt after the first one collapsed (in 1887) in the winter gales.

Interesting blip fact ....

In 2003, more than 1,000 metric tons of bird droppings were scraped off the ironwork lattice of the bridge using hand tools, and bagged into 25 kilograms sacks.

YUK !!!!!
