In Memoriam

As you walk around the Old Town area, in front of several houses and shops are these Brass Plaques set in the Paving, These name the people who had lived there and were deported and murdered during the Second World War.
There are a depressing number and that is not all, not by far. many of the pesent owners have refused to have the plaques put in front of their houses. I wonder why, Guilty conscience , maybe ?
This does seem to put our present problems into perspective, doesn't it? After all if we complain too loudly now, we aren't visited late at night and we don't disappear without trace.
