Jackson Square, New Orleans
I had a very hard time choosing one photograph today. We drove down to New Orleans for the night (catching a plane tomorrow) and went to dinner at the Bourbon House. I almost posted pictures of the food. It was ridiculous. We had oysters, shrimp, a flight of bourbon (!), pecan pie and Bourbon House milk punch (tastes like eggnog). Afterward we took a long walk through the French Quarter...we needed it.
Obviously, this is Jackson Square. It's such an odd mixture of things: St. Louis Cathedral, drunks, fortune tellers, historic buildings, banana trees and live oaks, kids running and laughing, artists selling weird paintings and usually lots of tourists taking photographs (including me). I also almost posted a picture I took of a sign that said "Church Quiet Zone" and at the bottom someone had written "Blow-jobs 50 cents."
Tomorrow we'll be traveling to Arizona. I don't think we'll see anything as interesting.
