Relief Next to Me

by Tegan and Sara

LOOK WHAT I FOUND!!!!!!!!!

So after many laps around the neighborhoods shaking treats and calling for her, stocking up on stinky fishy wet food and putting lots outside in hopes she'd smell it, assembling my dad's crappy printer and making tons of fliers, and being soaked to the bone and freezing... Jake had to leave me at 6 o'clock to drive back to Athens. It wasn't looking good at all; we still hadn't even seen her. I continued looking until about 7:30, then called all the little old ladies that live around my grandpa to update them/see if they'd seen her. Right before 8:00 I headed up the street in the direction one of the ladies MIGHT have seen a dark colored cat around 3 hours ago. While calling for her and shaking treats, whoosh! A dark cat flies around the corner of a house about 5 away from me... running like it's scared out of its mind. I looked and looked, but never saw it again. It was getting dark so I decided I better go get my car with the cat carrier in it and just drive to the other side of the neighborhood in case that cat ran through both backyards and had come out the other side. I also wanted to have more wet food with me. So as I go bolting up my grandpa's stairs to grab the wet food off the table, I pass by the door to the back porch... which Neko is sitting on eating the food I had out!!! Of course we managed to scare the hell out of each other... so it took another half hour of me sitting out there in the rain, opening cans of food, calling her, et cetera until her little waif of a self finally came to me. She's only a 7lb cat and I'd say she'd lost at least 2. *WHEW.* I'm so lucky.

This is what she did for the next 5 days straight. She's also pretty much velcroed to me at all times now. I don't mind!
