Miss Kite 2

A lot of mississippi kite activity these past few days. I saw the fledgling standing on the edge of the nest flapping (binoculars). No way to photograph so far away. I've heard commotion several times and have run outside to see the kites chasing off a couple of coopers. Today, lots of adult kites flying and perching in the bare limbed trees nearby, but no sign of the fledgling. I'll reserve my gloomy diagnosis for a couple of days. My neck is exhausted from looking up and the temperatures are still soaring in the upper 90s today.
