Are we having fun yet?

My daughter requested to go into Chinatown this morning, so we took the subway. Who knew it would be hotter underground on those platforms than above ground? Not I. Anyhow, I think she was a bit disappointed in Chinatown.

"I expected it to be more red," she said.

"Red?" I asked.

"Yes. You know, red for good luck."

Nope, not much red, and not much luck (finding a taxi) for that matter.

The day proved to be a scorcher*, so we headed to the air conditioned galleries of the Metropolitan Art Museum for the afternoon. Along with just about every other tourist in NYC.


*Temps were 98F/37C with a heat index (factoring in humidity) of over 105F/40.5C.
