No 94 Little egret
Been to RSPB Old Moor today, and really hoped to get a bird for my 100 challenge. No easy matter, as I've blipped most of the regulars by now, and those as yet unblipped were very distant - as, you will guess, was this little egret. Other contenders would have been Green Sandpiper - a lifer, but even more distant, a lesser black backed gull, or a stock dove. It was a better day than the weather forecast had predicted, and finally, there were a few dragonflies around, as well as plenty of gatekeeper butterflies, and a red admiral. We got a good sighting of a kingfisher, picked out a well-camouflaged snipe, and for me, the highlight was watching one of my favourites - the common terns doing their fantastically graceful manoeuvres.
