The Road

Most of the A846 between Bowmore and Port Ellen on Islay is dead straight. With a tail wind, cycling along it is a blast, although a little unnerving being overtaken every few minutes by cars doing 70 or 80mph, as if you shouldn't really be there.

Further on, beyond the horizon, the road passes the airport. The only airport I have seen that has a cattle grid.
