An Old Airman's Life

Booger Red's

I had always thought that when I got old, I would sit around all day waiting for medical examiner to take me away. At 62, I am pretty sure that I am at least as busy as I was at 32. Nose surgeries, beer drinking, bike riding, working, church, friends, enemies, sort of friends, family all pulling at a little of my precious time. Then this afternoon, I have a restful few hours with my wife. Just walking down the street. We went to the Fort Worth Stock Yards. We ate at a restaurant that we both agreed we would never voluntarily return to. We walked several blocks in the 103 degree heat. Saw some folks get on longhorn cattle to have their picture taken. Watched a little girl riding a pony for the first time. Debbie and I also sat in Booger Red's and had a drink. We talked some, but mainly sat next to each other without a lot of distractions. It was damn near perfect for about 15 minutes. It was just us without email or facebook or ringing cell phones.
