Banksia
A close up of a Banksia seed cone. The large yellow-red flowers gradually dry up to leave a grey cone that lasts for years...thousands of seeds develop inside these "valves" which eventually open up (each over some time) and allow the wind to transport the tiny papery winged seeds.
