The Phoenix Rises

By sheilaM

The white shirts

Ironing school shirts
Off a new home
All grown up
Leaving the nest.

How will I feel when they both finally go?
A fear is creeping over me.

The rooms get tidied
The clothes get bought
New updated laptops
The cash flow has begun.

Will I sleep soundly the night they start?
Or will I start a new life again?

The excitment is building
Toes firmly testing water
Already they leave me
Bit by bit.

I would say I'll never complain about ironing their clothes again, but I hate the very word. That's why it's known as swearing in our house.

The day got away from us and things happened to stop us doing our planned day out today, but on the plus side, "Claudette" has her new wooden, insulated floor and I have a very tired Ally.

Night, night.
