Much Ado In A Steam Bath

I and my friends were half expecting the performance to be canceled because of the heat. Before venturing out the reading was 99 degrees Farenheit, with the heat index at feels like 113, but the show went on bravely with a smaller crowd than would have come out in cooler weather. Much Ado About Nothing was the choice for the Bard's sixth season in our park and my fourth time able to attend. Actually the park is over a century old, so there may have been earlier summer theater here --who knows?

Conjoined with the open-air plays, an old friend celebrates her birthday with a picnic, and that went on in spite of being a week early this year. A's husband is a research scientist, so I asked him what he thought the tattoo at lower right represented --an atom? "A DNA base, maybe," he said. As the evening progressed, the woman started knitting, and our theory was a stitch. Walking off toward a final ice ream eating session, we mused weather it was a patch of twisted fence wire.

The deviled eggs, hot spicey pickles, and pizza with lemonade were all good. Shakespeare and his living cast & crew were terrific. Ice cream and dressings were soft but cool. Another boiled day tomorrow; chance of rain on Sunday.
