Elk View

We took a little trip to Salem today for a 3-day bible convention. On the way, outside of Reedsport, there is a elk-viewing spot. Usually, the elk are too far away to get a really nice shot, at least that has been my experience, but today they were feeding really close to the fence. I've been told, by others, that sometimes they jump the fence and come out to the road, but this was plenty close for me.

The are truly amazing creatures; beautiful and powerful but totally preoccupied with their quest for food. They did not seem to notice anything but the grass in front of them. The only time I could get a shot of them with their head up was while they were moving to the next grazing spot. Unfortunately, all those shots were blurred.
