A Sasanach's Skye photos

The path around the Lump

On top of the lump is the arena where the Highland Games are played on the first Wednesday of August each year, It is common for about 4000 people to squeeze into the limited space. This sort of day would be ideal. Sunny, warm with a light breeze. Enough to keep those wretched midges at bay.

Around the lump is a footpath which is as much of a pleasure for me to walk now as it was the first time I did some thirty odd years ago. At this point in the photograph we are starting to see the anchorage; the harbour is a little further round. And then you see Portree.

I have a panorama of the arena but think this is more interesting since it keeps you guessing as to what you will see next. As I say, It is an ideal day. There are lots of visitors about too.

Taking a booking earlier this afternoon, the couple said they had dined with us last night but were wondering whether or not to try somewhere else. I was able to tell them that I knew Sea Breezes were fully booked. They decided to take one of our last tables here at Harbour View Seafood Restaurant. After them we only had a table at 5-30 pm and one at 10-00 pm. Not many wish to dine as late as that!
