Saint-Antoine l'Abbaye
It is said that the medieval village of Saint-Antoine l'Abbaye is one of the jewels of the heritage of the Rhone-Alpes region. It's situated in the department of the Isere at the gateway to the Drome and half way between Grenoble and Valence.
Are you interested in history? Then you find here a challenging centre of attraction!
The village
- is an impotent place of pilgrimage for centuries;
- retains numerous architectural remnants of it' prestigious past;
- is officially listed as a French Historical Monument.
The history of the village is linked with Saint Anthony of Egypt. His relics - brought back from the Crussades - possessed the power to cure 'Mal des Ardents' (ergot poisoning).
On th photo you can see the west side of the Abbey's remnants. More photos from village and abbey (details!) I'll show you later in a separate file.
And as you can also see, YES, the blue sky is back! ... ;)
