Trains (revisited)

Can't help thinking I should've just stuck to a single photo today rather than try and create a montage in 5 minute slots during a full-on Ben day.

At least I managed to wash my hair this morning! Now that's a good test of a new hairstyle: can you get it to behave after washing it the first time! Thankfully I think I managed pretty well. If I want it to actually do anything (y'know, like sit up and beg, roll over, fetch on demand, that kind of thing) I might need to apply some kind of treat to it. Which necessitates buying some. Which I may have to do. But I did spend a whole £1.75 on a couple of pretty hair clips yesterday, one of which I am sporting today :)

I'm glad we opted for an "at home" day. I opened the fridge this morning to discover it hadn't been closed properly over night and the freezer compartment had decided to try and defrost itself. SO in dealing with getting rid of the remaining ice I managed to flood the fridge and a section of kitchen floor.... but at least all the ice is gone now so no more flooding for another year. Hehe.

Ben has been pretty high-maintenance today. I wonder if it's a combination of not feeling 100% from the cold virus that has hit us both, missing his grandad who went home again yesterday, and being overtired from not enough sleep over the past few days. I've not been allowed to concentrate on very much at any rate. The slightest thing has been setting him off crying, his whole face crumpling up and bottom lip wobbling, the works. All he's wanted is cuddles all day, except for when he finally gave in to sleep and I was able to let him have a good rest in his bed.

While he was doing that I got on with some (paid!) work at last. I love my job. Per hour it pays beautifully. Shame I don't get so many hours' work - maybe a couple a month...! Hey ho ;) It helps with food bills!

Ben's taken some pictures of me today. I'm not really sure where to put them. They're really not that nice.... But he was very pleased with his efforts. Using my camera and everything. At least he's learning to actually look through the viewfinder rather than press it to his nose.

He's been playing with his train set today. He's finally "got" how to pull the trains along from the front carriage, rather than pushing them from the last carriage. And so he enjoyed taking the very very long train around the track. The train session ended in an impromptu gig for all the passengers and animals, Ben moved the track wholesale and set his drums up and played!

My neighbour came over while Ben was asleep to ask me something about banking, and I hope I've managed to give her some useful suggestions that her landlord can think about. Hopefully at least one of the suggestions might be acceptable to mr landlord! It was good to see her, it's been far too long since we've sat and chatted about everything and nothing. She's got a big birthday coming up soon, and while talking about that I remembered that another special lady in my life has a particularly special birthday coming up in December! Going to have to do a bit of ringing around to see if we can come up with some kind of plan to celebrate that one :) Wonder if I could manage a journey up to Manchester with a tiny baby....?!
