Tree In Drought

I don't know about where you live. but where i live ~ we are down several inches of much needed rain for the year (several years really).

i have begun to notice many of the trees are on their own, retreating into their trunks and conserving their energy by eliminating their outer most leaves. This tree is not unique, however it is one of the best examples in my neighborhood. The amazing die off of the upper limbs leaves a ghostly halo to the remaining foliage tight and neat to the core of the tree. I have noticed this most desperately in the younger trees rather than in the older and more established trees, although they have lost a limb or two also.

I have wanted to photograph these trees for a while now. Finally stopped today to get that done.
