End of Year Service
Well it was the Headlands School End of Year Service ( my daughters in year 1 ).
Christ Church Liversedge was a wash with blue, white and grey, and the chattering of small children.. Welcome all by Reverend Ian Bullock.
All the Children begin to sing "one more step along the world I go"... A tear in my eye and shivers down my spine.
Year 6 share the memories and hopes for the future... wow these kids don't look big enough to be going to high school.
Looking round the church small children pulling faces at each other, older children whispering, teachers looking all proud whilst keeping an eye on the other kids, parents thinking where have my babies gone..... Then I notice a parent helper with his eyes closed and his head nodding, year 6 start to sing "when I grow up" that wakes him up.... 1 boy reads a poem Crossing the Bridge by George Moore... So well done
One thing I thought I'd never hear sung in a church service "Reach for the stars" by sclub 7 or steps who ever it was..
A really nice service on a lovely sunny Yorkshire day.
