An historic marketplace
Today I had to nip into the centre of Norwich at lunchtime, so Norwich Market seemed an ideal candidate for today's blip. This shot is taken from the newly refurbished Memorial Gardens, slightly above market level. Behind to the left is the magnificent old Lloyd's Bank building, Top right, peeping out from behind the tree, is part of Norwich Castle. Behind me as I overlooked the market is City Hall.
The market has a great history, and was first recorded in the Domesday Book although it's existence is evident prior to that.
It's the largest Monday-Saturday open-air market in our country!
