Easy Pickins
I'm trying real hard not to complain...buttttt....it is hot here. 97 when I drove down to the river. It's sultry...It's steamy...It's horny-toad HOT.
The geese were dipping their heads into the water. The turtles were out of the water and sunning themselves on rocks. Tiny blue dragonflies were on the turtles backs. Ducks were fanning their wings. Fishermen were wise enough to stay inside. That surprised me a little. They were probably watching the World Cup Soccer match. UGHHH! (Not a big fan of soccer.)
There was a small wedding at the gazebo. A boatload of attendants(7-8 of each sex), and maybe 60-70 guests. The couple looked like they were free spirits. Her sleeveless wedding dress revealed 3 big colorful tattoos. One was an anchor with the word DAD in the middle. The groom was in a tuxedo, so you couldn't see if he had any. A guest almost made the blip. When I zoomed in with my camera...she had the state of Michigan tatooed on the back of her left lower leg. She even had the tiny little islands. To top it off...she was wearing red, white, and black skeleton high heels. Again...very colorful.
The bird won out. I think it is a mockingbird, and it looks like another dragonfly is the main course for dinner. I'm glad there are plenty of them, because I have sure seen a lot of them being eaten this year.
I took these with my new camera. The Canon sx30is. I bought it to replace the sx20is that perished in the waters of Big Seven Lake. I hope we can put that chapter of my photography quest to rest. RIP...my camera companion...you served me well. I wish you could have just retired instead of being dumped. (Insert a big SIGHHHH here.)
