Enniskillen

Travelled 100 miles from parents' house to Enniskillen, where we went for lunch with O's great grandmother. Sadly, the weather continued to be the big let down.

Enniskillen, the county town for Fermanagh, has grown up around the River Erne that runs between Lower and Upper Lough Erne. Fermanagh's two loughs and their c150 islands are draw many thousands of anglers, water sports enthusiasts and tourists every year.

The view here is of Enniskillen Castle, built almost 600 years ago to guard one of the few passages into Ulster. The strategically important outpost became an English garrison fort in the 17th century and later served as part of a military barracks.

After lunch we headed home and got back in time to watch the back nine of Darren Clarke's fantastic Open victory at Royal St George's.

Two more days in N Ireland, hoping the weather will improve...
