Well, the way the ant was hanging from the showy milkweed (Asclepias speciosa) on the spider thread made it look like the flower was going to eat the ant.

We spent the day a couple hours north surveying for the western prairie fringed orchid. The morning wasn't bad, but after a lunchtime thunderstorm blew through, the sun came out and it quickly heated up.
