Mandela Day (1)
Mandela Day
Mandela Day on July 18 is an annual international day adopted by the United Nations. It is more than a celebration of Nelson Mandela's life and legacy; it is a global movement to take his life's work into a new century and change our world for the better. Mandela Day asks us all to embrace Madiba's values and honour his legacy through an act of kindness. Who knows, it might leave you inspired enough to make every day a Mandela Day!
Mandela Day includes a series of events involving interactive art, entertainment, music, film, educational outreach and community service with the hope of inspiring people around the globe to embrace their individual power to make an imprint and help change the world around them for the better.

Today while we were out shopping, we came across this event taking place in Nelson Mandela Square. It was fascinating to watch, fortunately I had my camera with me. The idea was to grab a snap shot of a pigeon but none were about and those that were kept flying off as there were to many people, so thankfully there was this to photography. We would have liked to have stayed until they completed it but our time was running out and we needed to get home. :-(
This portrait of Madiba was being made with different strength cup of coffees.
Tomorrow is Madiba's (Nelson Mandela) birthday, he is turning 93. It is a big thing here in South Africa and many people take part in activities, giving of their time for Madiba and doing charitable events. My brother helped paint a classroom in Kagiso, one of the Townships.
I hope everyone had a GREAT weekend. Both my boys are back at school tomorrow, so back to routine and back to normality - whatever that is. LOL
